Update: Travelling in Asia!
What happened between the end of 2007 and now?
- First of all I got my Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design, and I may now call myself Bachelor of Science.
- I worked as a jack of all trades for six months at Buro Blink (a creative advertising agency) and for six months at Enschede Promotion (the organization responsible for promoting Enschede). In these jobs I had the chance to learn a lot about marketing.
- I made it to the final of the Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition (see below).
Update: Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition 2008

The Ring Glass is my take on the traditional cocktail glass. I'm always interested in human relations and how they are affected by objects. Making human interaction more playful and fun by cool designs is one of the biggest kicks in the world. The Ring Glass is a glass that you can wear in your own way, one that provoces conversation and one that you can offer to your girlfriend in a very special way :-)

T-shirt: Daedalus contest
A t-shirt design for the Industrial Design student union: Daedalus. I designed it as an entry in a T-shirt contest.
Educational project: TED (2004)
The assignment for this project was: "Create a cuddle toy that is enhanced by electronics". Our entry (TED) was awarded with the audience award.
In retrospective, I think we were awarded this price because of two reasons:
One: because we had our own view on electronics and toys, and decided to stick to our own vision instead of the one our teachers had. Two: because we were able to communicate this vision very strongly to the audience visiting the final presentations.
If you want to know more about our vision and the way we communicated it, feel free to send me an email or to ask me when you see me. It's a bit too much to describe here.
Big thanks to my collegues for this project: Irene Rijkeboer, Reiny Zwakenburg (and Erik Kroes).

Recruitment Campaign Student Solutions Twente

This is a commercial assignment I did for a local company called "Student Solutions Twente". The managing director of the company asked me to design a poster to recruit new software-developers.
In close cooperation with the company I created a communication-concept which involves a series of 3 posters: one for each vacancy. The repeatment of the logo promotes SST as a brand, and the fact that it's a series (which isn't common on poster boards) makes it stand out a lot between other posters. We also decided to add an email adress to enable direct communication between the potential employee and the company. To make the poster stand out between the other posters even more I decided to keep the design as clear and simple as possible.
Part of the concept is that the poster will be printed in several sizes (A3, A4 and postcard size) for optimal implementation depending on each location and situation.
The posters will blend in, yet stand out.
For more information about this company, see www.student-solutions.nl.

Welcome
This is my first post. Since building a site takes some time, I decided to start the easy way: through this blog. On this I can build up my content whenever I want to, without having the barrier of first creating a clever site with an intuitive menu structure etc. Besides: I like things clear and simple. By showcasing some of my work here, I hope I can give you an impression of what I do. Enjoy browsing!
With kind regards,
Bartjan de Bruijn
